Papers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, Province of New York, and the Dominion of New England, including a copy of the Massachusetts charter granted by Charles I and attested by John Winthrop. Also, papers regarding inquiries and complaints surrounding Edmund Andros's discharge of duties as Governor of New York, his role as Governor of the Dominion of New England, subsequent imprisonment by the people of Boston (1689) and recall to England by King William; a letter from Simon Bradstreet to King William regarding the depressed situation of New England following the revolt against the Dominion (1690); and papers regarding the agents sent to England to prosecute charges against Edward Randolph, including a letter from Elisha Cooke in London to Bradstreet.

Edward Randolph was a royal office holder who spent most of his service in America. He played a role in the revocation of the Massachusetts charter and held several offices within the Dominion of New England. In 1692, Randolph came to Virginia as surveyor-general of customs.
